Godfrey Does The Job

The live broadcast began at ten with the co Main, Lt Heavyweights, Chris Henry (23-2) vs Shaun George (18-2-2). George started impressively but by the second round, Henry dominated. The fight ended with a 6th round TKO by Henry.

The next was a six round swing bout which went the distance. Derek "Pooh"Ennis, was faster and more agile than Alabama's John Mackey earning himself a UD. In a non disputed, ten round UD,

Matt Godfrey (18-1) successfully defended his NABF Cruiserweight Title against Shawn Hawk (18-0). Godfrey weighed in at 200lbs and Hawk at 198lbs. Both men were ready and anxious to go. Godfrey fought a smart fight and pretty much controlled this ten round champion bout. He used his punching power frugally but effectively and kept Hawk, and his much talked about right, away. Towards the 9th round, Shawn Hawk started to light up, but not bright enough to win. After the fight, in a act of generosity and fellowship, Matt presented his Sovereign Nation belt to Hawk. It was a nice moment. The previous day, a medal was given to Hawk's dad and trainer, Ray Hawk, from Joe Dwyer and the NABF for Ray's consistent dedication and work with troubled Native American youth.

Perhaps the most exciting fight of the evening was the 8 rounder between local, Tony "Boom Boom" Ferrante (7-0) vs. Billy Bailey (9-3; USNBC). Ferrante, who brought the crowd to their feet, won in a SD.
