NORTH AMERICAN BOXING FEDERATION RATINGS CHANGES
Changes in top-ten ratings positions, by division, for
February 16, 2008 ratings (February 16, 2008 Ratings)

HEAVYWEIGHTS:

  • Boxers Witherspoon and Johnson move up due to recent wins.
  • New entry, as per information received from NABF President Walker, has USNBC champion Joe Mesi now rated at 7.
  • New entry at 9 is Derric Rossy who has a significant win over solid opponent Ray Mercer since the last ratings.  
  • Other changes are the result of these moves.
CRUISERWEIGHTS:
  • Flores up from 3 to 1 with a win over previous 1 Wilson.  Wilson drops to 6. 
  • New entry at 5 is undefeated prospect Francisco Palacios. 
  • Former 8 Gunn leaves ratings due to level of competition since losing WBO title challenge.  He is scheduled to fight again in March and will be reassessed following at that time. 
  • Other changes are the result of these moves.
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHTS:
  • Previous 3 Hanshaw moves to his normal weight of super middle.
  • Prior 10 Butler moves to cruiserweight where he is fighting now.
  • Other changes are the result of these moves. 

SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHTS:

  • Hanshaw, former rated 3 at light heavy, is now listed as 4 here.
  • Other changes are the result of this move.
MIDDLEWEIGHTS:

  • New at 5 is Marco Antonio Rubio, record of 41-4 with 7 wins in a row.
  • Former #8 Ayala is challenging for a world title, and will be reassessed
  • after that fight should he not win. 
  • Other changes are the result of these moves.

SUPER WELTERWEIGHTS:
  • Thompson, previous 3, lowered due to inactivity.  
  • New at 4 is Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., the new Continental Americas champion at this weight.
  • Up to 5 is Bunema, who shows a stoppage win over highly world rated opponent within the last month.  
  • Undefeated outstanding prospect Angulo is up to 6 following another win.  New rated at 8 is Saul Roman, recent winner over world rated Kassim Ouma.  Former 10 Browning drops to welterweight.  
  • Other changes are the result of these moves.

WELTERWEIGHTS:

  • Diaz drops from 4 to 8 due to relative inactivity.  
  • Chavez moves to super welter following a win for Continental Americas belt at this weight.  
  • Saleta drops from 8 to 11 for inactivity.
  • Rodriguez up from 10 to 4 resulting from win over ranked super welter Browning.  
  • Other changes are the result of these moves. 

SUPER LIGHTWEIGHTS:

  • Prior 6 Juaregui to lightweight. 
  • Mora drops from 7 to 11 as the result of a loss. 
  • Alexander up from 12 to 8 following a win for the Americas title. 
  • Other changes are the result of these moves.
LIGHTWEIGHTS:
  • Javier Juaregui is now 7 here – formerly rated at super light.
  • Other changes are the result of this move.
SUPER FEATHERWEIGHTS:
  • Aguiniga leaves for inactivity. 
  • Velazquez is fighting WBC eliminator at featherweight and is reclassified at that division. 
  • New at 5 is great prospect Gamboa.  
  • Other changes are the result of these moves.

FEATHERWEIGHTS:

  • Velazquez from SF to this division. 
  • Rudy Lopez leaves the ratings until we can verify his interest in competing for our regional title or not. 

SUPER BANTAMWEIGHTS:

  • Oliver up to 4 following recent wins.  
  • Other changes are the result of this move. 

BANTAMWEIGHTS:

  • Former 1 Martinez now rated at super fly.  
  • New at 7 is world rated veteran Jhonny Gonzalez.  
  • Other changes are the result of these moves. 

SUPER FLYWEIGHTS:

  • New 1 is Raul Martinez previous 1 at BW.  
  • Prior 1 Navarro leaves following receipt from Championship Chairman that boxer is not interested in fighting for our regional title.  
  • Previous 5 Lopez drops to 10 as result of loss to rated flyweight opponent.

FLYWEIGHTS:

  • New entries are Brian Viloria at 4 and Jose Antonio Aguirre at 7.  Both move up from LFLY division.  
  • Tamara, former 4 drops to 6 following a loss in a world title challenge.  Other changes are the result of these moves.

LIGHT FLYWEIGHTS:

  • See prior division for information on Viloria and Aguirre. 
  • Changes are resulting from these two boxers moving up in weight.

STRAWWEIGHTS:

  • Former 5 Lobito Soto leaves due to several losses in recent bouts.
  • Other changes are the result of this move.

NABA, USBA and NABO, and with WBC affiliated titles at the
