Boxing has no borders -- and we, the NABF, Mexican, American and Canadian are have a blast!
June 9th
The cocktail party brought friends from all over North America together in one of the most colorful places on earth. Afterwards, everyone was free to go out and explore the exotic streets of New Orleans.  Tom Ashy is our unofficial consierge, so there were a lot of great suggestions and fun things to consider.

Our general session was opened by the Deputy Mayor of New Orleans. Then, Robert Lenhart, in his unique style, MC'd the session, Mauricio Sulaiman shared some wonderful personal stories of his time in New Orleans for the "No mas" fight, as well as encouraging news about the state of boxing in Mexico. Ed Pearson was praised for bringing in more Canadian representatives to the NABF. The highlight, was our first tern-President Joe Dwyer''s address. Despite the economy, we had more fights this year than in NABF history, including some in Germany, France and Algiers.  Joe also led us in a moment of  respectful recogniziton for our beloved Roy VanPutten. And, we sent prayers and to Nick Charles for a strong recovery and Jose Sulaiman on his upcoming  knee surgery.
We also are privileged to have  four of our NABF champs- Irma Sanchez, Chauncy Welliver, Wilbert Uicab and Joe Hipp at the convention; as well as some top promoters.
The afternoon judges seminare, led by Dwayne Ford, was well attended (in fact, standing room only), and the ratings meeting went smoothly with Claude Jackson at the helm. Tonight, is time to play and enjoy the music, friendship and food of an enchanting city.
This is turning out to be a great convention in a wonderful setting.
